Diana J. Rich
Diana J. Rich is a seasoned insurance and risk management professional with more than 30 years of experience in multi-line claims administration, with a strong focus on workers’ compensation. Diana began her career in the insurance industry with a focus on workers’ compensation and groomed her skills with an insurance broker and a workers’ compensation defense law firm before directing numerous risk management and workers’ compensation programs for business and government entities. She has worked with all types of workers’ compensation programs, including fully insured, loss sensitive, large deductible and self-insured plans. She now serves as an expert witness and litigation consultant, and works as an independent consultant for Interisk Limited.

Diana’s thorough knowledge of workers’ compensation principles makes her a reputable resource on the application of statutory and affirmative defenses, as well as compensability issues and decisions.
Diana began her career working in the insurance industry concentrating on workers’ compensation as a claims representative and claims supervisor. For the next five years, she was an assistant vice president at Anderson and Anderson Insurance Brokers, Inc., where she managed workers' compensation services for more than 80 clients with annual premiums in excess of $15 million. From there, Diana went to the workers’ compensation defense law firm Vermes, Rovenger & Kelley where she researched and compiled workers' compensation defense strategies. She devoted the next 20 years directing risk management and workers’ compensation programs in both the private and public sectors for companies including Freedom Communications, Inc., Sunstone Hotel Properties, Inc., RemedyTemp, Inc., the California Joint Powers Insurance Authority, DPI Specialty Foods, the City of Anaheim (California), and Foundation Building Materials.
Diana began consulting in 2012, delivering risk management and workers’ compensation expertise to a variety of clients, including employers in temporary staffing and warehousing/distribution, specializing on claim resolution and forecasting ultimate claims costs for collateral requirements and budget purposes. She also worked with an occupational medicine provider on issues related to workers’ compensation reform, reviewing provider network contracts and interfacing with clients and claims administrators. Her consulting practice also included developing proposals for managed care providers for services encompassing nurse case management, bill review, utilization review, and pharmacy benefit management.
Diana’s professional credentials include the ARM (Associate in Risk Management) and RMPE (Associate in Risk Management for Public Entities) from the Insurance Institute of America for Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters, as well as the prestigious Workers’ Compensation Claims Certificate from the Insurance Education Association.
She is a member of the Orange County chapter of the Risk and Insurance Management Society, an advisory member of the Council of Self Insured Public Agencies, and an advisory committee member for Employers’ Fraud Task Force. Diana also serves on the conference committee for the Combined Claims Conference and the California Workers’ Compensation and Risk Conference.
Diana is a recognized thought leader in the field of workers’ compensation and a regular speaker at local, state, national, and international conferences.
